Pre-1978 EPA RRP Lead Certified Requirements
If your home was built before 1978 it is required that the contractor you are working with is EPA RRP Certified. Unfortunately, Scott's Painting & Staining Inc. does not currently offer lead testing services. We specialize in hardboard sided houses which typically began construction in the 1980's. Therefore, we are unable to service exterior siding and painting projects for home built prior to 1978.
In April 2008 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a mandate that had a significant impact on the remodeling and home improvement industry. The Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP) has changed how painting and other renovation contractors approach working on buildings built before 1978. This includes schools, non-profit buildings, government buildings and hospitals. Before any work begins your home must be tested for lead to determine if lead-safe work practices are required.
